The biggest single improvement (for comfort and audio) to any vehicle is sound proofing, especially 4×4 vehicles. They are very often some of the loudest (internally) vehicles on the road today and that noise can take away the pleasure of any form of road trip.
The Landrover Defender tends to be the winner in the loudest cabin category with even the latest models clocking in at an average of 80Decibells at 70 mph, the older the model, the worse it gets.
To try and give a comparison, a Discovery 3 at 70mph is under 70 decibells and to try to explain in laymens terms, every 3Db decrease (to the human ear) is a halving of volume. A discovery 3 is 3 to 4 times quieter than your Defender.
I offer a complete sound deadening package that will reduce the cabin noise in your Defender by 9-10 Db.
I use Skinz sound proofing throughout and skinz 6mm panel liner(roof and floor) to acheive the above results. Prices start at £1500.00 fully installed.
This can be done to any vehicle however the noisier it is, the better the results.
The sound deadening also has thermal qualities which will achieve a warmer cabin in the winter and cooler in the summer. Specifically in regard to the Landrover Defender, it will also help with condensation issues.
