Installing a Double din unit into your Defender is quite involved as switches need to be moved to a new switch panel which needs to be cut into the dashboard. this is quite a common job and I have done this numerous times over the years but again I do things a little differently from most.
My double din installation will look exactly the same as any other from any other company, however its not just about what you see but also about what you don’t see.
To do the job correctly the wiring harness for hazzard switch, heated screen switches and also the rear wash and wipe switches all need to be extended but with most I have seen, the wiring is un loomed and stretched across the top of the unit.
This can cause the replacement double din panel to “bulge” and not sit correctly so a lot of company’s will screw the new facia into the dash. This not only looks unsightly but also does no favours to your wiring harness in the long term.
